I walked along Charing Cross Road yesterday and found that The Astoria has been completely demolished. Might have been done a while ago but a part of music history and part of my youth is gone forever. Shame. it was one of my favourite places to see a band. A proper rock n roll venue – nothing sterile and sponsored about it. Fantastic sign too – I wonder what happened to that? After the last night there I manager to wangle my way in to take some photos of the empty venue. I’ll post them on my flickr page soon.
